Corey Lucas
Corey Lucas is the President and Founder of Mentally Charged and Fully Charged. Corey grew up in Scarborough playing AAA hockey with the Toronto Marlies and Wexford Raiders of the MTHL. In 1997, Corey won the Metro Jr. Championship, with Wexford Raiders. In 1998, Corey received an NCAA Division I hockey scholarship to Canisius College where he attained a B.Sc. in Physical Education and Health. Corey went on to play 4 years of professional hockey for Kalamazoo, Adirondack, and Macon. After his professional career, Corey became an elementary school teacher with the TDSB, teaching grades 4-8 for 19 years. During this time, Corey coached in the GTHL for 10 years with the Toronto Red Wings and North York Rangers, and 7 years in the OMHA with the Oshawa Generals. Recently, Corey received the AAA Coaching Staff of the Year Award from the Oshawa Generals organization. As a Certified Mental Skills Coach, Corey's impact extends as a Gatorade Hockey Summit speaker and lead Mental Skills Coach for Hockey Equality, alongside NHL Analyst, Anthony Stewart. Coach Corey is looking forward to helping elevate the performance and mental strength of these elite hockey players.
Sean Dionne
Coach Sean played minor hockey in Oshawa winning an OMHA Championship with the 1980 AAA Minor Peewee Oshawa All Stars. Following in the family coaching footsteps, Sean has been involved in hockey and sledge hockey for almost 25 years with experience in varying roles with a broad range of organizations (local to provincial) and at numerous levels (recreational to elite to provincial). A Development Level 1 Certified Coach with Hockey Canada he is passionate about coaching focusing on attention to detail, ‘the process’ assisting athletes develop their full potential in sport and life. He is actively engaged in advancing his coaching skills and knowledge of all aspects of the game most recently taking mental toughness training courses and obtaining his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (Online) certification for strength and conditioning. Coach Sean has coached for the Whitby Steelhawks, OCHL, Headstart Hockey and co-ran Savage Hockey to name a few. In addition to coaching Fully Charged he was most recently an Assistant Coach with the Oshawa Minor Hockey AAA Coaching Staff of the Year for the U11 AAA Oshawa Generals.
Dan West
Dan played six years of junior hockey including two in the OHL – selected 54th overall by the Windsor Spitfires of the 1993 draft and acquired a year later by the Peterborough Petes. He finished his junior career in Summerside, PEI where he won the Royal Bank Cup National Junior “A” Championship. After meeting and working with the late Roger Neilson, Dan started coaching in 1998 at the AAA level, winning bronze, silver, and an all-Ontario championship gold medal in 4 years. He coached junior hockey from 2002-2019 (900+ games as a Head Coach) and was named OJHL Coach of the Year in 2007-2008. Dan is a member of the Lindsay Sports Hall of Fame as a builder and athlete and was the recipient of the 1997 Citizen of the year award in Summerside, PEI. He returned full-time to minor hockey in 2019 and currently works in hockey administration with a focus on the areas he is most passionate about – player and coach development. Dan has worked for the OHL program of excellence; he is a certified High-Performance coach as well as a licensed Hockey Canada Skills Coach and continues to be a coach mentor and evaluator for the OMHA.
Michael Drew
One year after completing his Jr. hockey career, Coach Mike realized he wanted to give back to the game that he loved, that had given him so much. Coach Mike has coached every age group from Mites to Major Midget (House League to AAA) over the years. Now, almost 31 years later, he finds himself with a greater passion. A passion for coaching and developing, not only strong young hockey players, but also helping create a positive parent/player environment, on the ice, in the car and at home. His philosophy has always been to develop individual player skill levels, a positive supportive team environment, strong team disciplines and of course fun. He is excited and honoured to be a part of the Fully Charged Team and working together with FC 2012 program to provide a great Spring Hockey experience.
Jesse Martell
Coach Jesse grew up playing youth hockey for Oshawa Minor. After youth hockey, he played High School where he competed in both LOSSA and OFFSA championships. From there he played Junior hockey for the Cobourg Cougars in the OJPHA. Jesse is coach 1 & 2 and a D1 certified coach, and certified hockey trainer and is currently working towards his Hockey Canada high-performance coaching certification. Jesse is in his second year coaching with Clarington and is the current assistant coach with the Toros U12 AAA team. With his 25+ years of being a competitive athlete and coaching, Jesse can be a positive and inspirational role model for athletes of all ages. Jesse always strives to lead by example, both mentally and physically, and strongly believes in positive motivation and encouragement, pushing all players to be the best they can be. In turn, these players do not simply gain skill, but they gain confidence as well, which is important to the development of any kind. Jesse is excited about this opportunity to continue working with FC, and the players in this region and help develop a strong competitive edge for their hockey future. He can’t wait to get on the ice!!
Mike Smith
Mike Smith is a seasoned hockey coach with over 5 years of experience. Prior to coaching, Mike played 5 years of Junior hockey and went to the OHA Championships. His coaching journey began at the grassroots level, where he honed his skills in developing young talents. Known for his strategic mindset and passion for player development, Smith progressed to coach at the AA level for four years and has now made the jump to AAA. With a track record of success, including multiple trips to the OMHA championships. Smith's coaching philosophy centers around teamwork, discipline, and a commitment to continuous improvement. His ability to blend tactical expertise with effective communication has made him a respected figure in the hockey community. Smith's coaching style emphasizes a balance between offensive creativity and defensive resilience. His dedication extends beyond the rink, as he strives to bolster character and sportsmanship in his players.
Lorne Hunchuck
As a former player, Lorne spent his formative years playing in the GTHL AAA level and even had the privilege of attending minor professional hockey camps. With 18 years of experience as a head coach in the GTHL AAA level and 2 years of experience at the OMHA AAA level across various age groups, he has accumulated valuable knowledge and expertise. Lorne takes pride in mentoring hockey players at the elite level, as well as supporting and guiding other coaches in their development. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach for a Junior hockey A club, contributing to the team's success and the growth and development of its players. During his tenure as a head coach, he had the privilege of witnessing several of his players getting drafted to higher levels in their hockey careers, both at the amateur and professional levels. To further enhance his hockey knowledge, Lorne became HP1 high-performance certified from Hockey Canada. Beyond coaching, Lorne is an accomplished elite skills instructor with two decades of experience. Lorne's extensive background in hockey, both as a player and as a coach, allows him to bring a wealth of experience and professionalism. Lorne is committed to creating a positive and competitive environment that fosters player development and success.
Cam McLean
Born and raised in Oshawa, Cam has a passion for minor hockey and has enjoyed being part of the growth and development of many young players in the minor hockey system, having worked with the OCHL and Oshawa Minor Hockey. Cam comes to FC with over 6 years of coaching experience and is C1 and C2 certified. Previously, Cam has been a head coach with Oshawa Minor Hockey for their U9 and U10 AA teams and is currently an assistant with both the U11AAA and U9MD teams. Cam was also an assistant coach with the inaugural FC 2012 team last year and looks forward to putting his experience to work with this year’s 2014 FC spring team.
